Being faced with criminal charges is a stressful experience. The consequences of being found guilty of a criminal offence can be severe, impacting work prospects, living with a curfew and/or other conditions and resulting in a custodial (jail) sentence. 

You are entitled to the opportunity to make full answer and defense to whatever charges are made against you. We can help. We will review the facts surrounding the charges. We evaluate both the Crown’s allegations and listen to your version of events, or non-events. We will explore with you your options to defend yourself. These include denial of the charges, leading a defense, or, where appropriate, exploring the mitigating circumstances and plea options.

The Steps We Will Take

We will actively address the charges and look to move the matter forward as quickly as practicable. You will be kept informed every step of the way. We will look to begin the process of addressing the charges by meeting with the Crown to look at the weaknesses the Crown’s case, work towards obtaining a Trial date or see if the matter can be resolved without a Trial.

At the same time, we will be actively preparing for the next step of your matter, including finding the holes in the Crown’s case and mustering our own evidence and involving experts where appropriate.

Similarly, we will thoroughly prepare for each step so that we can expedite your matter and take advantage of opportunities that may arise. We ensure that the client is kept informed and involved in what is going on with their case and any decisions we need to make. We always ensure that any decision a client makes to resolve a case or have a Trial, to call a certain witness, or to take the stand themselves is their own decision and that they have all the information they need to make this decision.
